Acceptable Use Policy

SOWN provides access to the SOWN network and the Internet-at-large through wireless access points around Southampton and beyond (known as SOWN[at]Home nodes). These access points are intended for light Internet use, i.e. checking email, surfing the web, etc. Excessive or inappropriate use will lead to a users account being restricted or even suspended.

You can obtain Internet access through both home nodes and campus nodes, in the latter case, Internet access is provided by JANET and therefore the Janet Acceptable Use Policy also applies.

All the above users can access the SOWN Network and its non-Internet resources from any SOWN[at]Home node. Any misuse of the access will lead to the immediate suspension of that user's account.
